Fantastic world building and characters, although the plots seem to meander about with not too much purpose.
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet and sequels are great world building and characters, although the plots seem to meander about with not too much purpose.
The first few chapters involve the main character literally walking onto a ship, and then tons of exposition about how her alien teamates are all alien in their own individualistic ways that in no way contribute to an over arching story.
Oh! And "The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet' (or almost anything else) by Becky Chambers.
Really touching story, great character development, and some interesting questions about AI and sentience.
Good stories, great worldbuilding and well worth the time and money.
