Accelerando by Charles Stross turns the concept of technological singularity into a well-written story. As the story spans a looong timespan and shows how humanity antiquates itself, it makes you feel small in a good sense.

One of the best singularity stories I have read, if not the best.
It's one of my all time favorite books. I've read it a half dozen times, and I'll probably read it again, just not right away.
Accelerando - and only later realised they're basically all about the end (in different ways) of the world.
It made me reconsider my definition of success, and is probably the one book that's had the most impact on my life.
