When read by a talented narrator its like poetry (and I mean that in a good way). When I finished it I immediatly rewound the tapes and listened to it again.
Beautifully written. McCarthy has an uncanny ability to paint with words.
Not his best book - I think Blood Meridian and The Road are better - but McCarthy is a great writer.
Haven't read that one yet, but his _All the Pretty Horses_ was one of the highlights of the year.
