This book offered me multiple new perspectives, it relieved me of the shame placed on me by other resources and social stigmas, and it acted as an upbeat and optimistic cheerleader.
It does not try to make smokers feel guilty or use the usual rethoric of addict = weak. What really make it click for me was its deconstruction of the addiction mechanism.
Stopped smoking six years ago and haven't had the desire to start again since. it feels great.
I think it was uniquely suited to break through the homogenous anti-smoking propaganda and offer new perspectives.
I was a chain smoker smoking 40 cigs a day, and then I read the book and poof! I stopped for good.
