Do audio books count? If so my favorites from this year would be Snow Crash by Neil Stephenson, and Armada by Ernest Cline.
"Armada" was a nice simple story very much along the lines of "Ready Player One."
If you've got time for a short novel, give it a whirl, but don't expect anything amazing.
