My other favourites are Pandora's Star and Judas Unchained by Peter F Hamilton (and the rest of the books in the Commonwealth series).
But nothing like the first book, although the two are actually a single book sold separately, at least for me.
Pandora's Star has a direct sequel: Judas Unchained, and Peter F. Hamilton has other books in that (The Commonwealth) millieu.
I really enjoyed Dutch House and Commonwealth, both by Anne Patchett. Beautiful writing about somewhat commonplace or relatable people and their lives.
