Better than anyone, Scott Meyers makes many of the very technical intricacies of C++ understandable and I think every professional C++ programmer could benefit from understanding the issues he explains.
But before that, the book that really opened my mind about 'professional programming' was effective C++.
Effective C++ is a valuable book that takes study, so you're off to a good start.
For C++ I've got all Scott Meyers stuff, Alexandrescu, Stroustrups C++ language.
I've only read Perl by Larry Wall and most of Effective C++.
