Axler's Linear Algebra Done Right has always been my favorite linear algebra text (I say this 10+ years after reading it and finishing my math PhD, if that matters).
This book saved my life during uni. I found the explanations to be clear and well thought out. Math textbooks are expensive and it’s a hard sell when you’re still an undergraduate and not sure what you will end up doing with your life.
If I had encountered Axler's Linear Algebra Done Right in undergrad, I might have been more interested in algebra.
Other books might only have relatively easy exercises (Axler's Linear Algebra Done Right, for example), which can help you gain a lot of confidence, while others might have many very difficult or very tedious problems.
Books that are clearly written, popular, cover their subject well. Examples: Visual Complex Analysis, Spivak’s Calculus, Linear Algebra Done Right, Hardy’s An Introduction to the Theory of Numbers.
For Linear Algebra, "Linear Algebra Done Right" -- way better than my college lin alg course.
Linear Algebra Done Right by Sheldon Axler is indeed a good book if you are looking for a rigorous proof based book to learn linear algebra.
