I'm not a designer but it really changed the way I think when I have to write any user interface.
It will not teach you how to make the perfect UX, but after reading it you will know how to avoid the most common and obvious mistakes.
I think you should read it even if you will never have to do any kind of UX work, because you will have to put up with somebody's else interface.
Very pragmatic and approachable for us developers who may not have much idea about design.
If you want 'good enough' design for your side project but don't want to use templates, this is the book you'd want to read.
I personally think it’s worth the money; I know it will save me money when I can handle some UI issues myself that I would have hired a for designer before.
This book targets developers who like to put their UI on the next level.
