But the content is written in a very accessible manner and I give it to young friends that are about to throw away their life because they were never exposed to any other mindset but "underclass".
What I took away was assets vs liabilities and using your money to make more money. That's it. And that's all I needed, that was the golden key.
There is some good to Rich Dad. For example: - the explanation of how the rich earn passive income by acquiring assets rather than making a direct trade of time for money. It may seem obvious if you know it, but it's a basic and powerful concept.
The book's strength is also it's weakness: it presents lessons as simplified parables without considering much nuance. For me as a young reader, this was valuable.
Something that really stood out for me was the description of the finances of the characters. It's like back then everyone understood that the goal was to live off investments, and that working for a living was an unfortunate, hopefully temporary condition.
Rich Dad, Poor Dad opened my eyes to some commercial realities of the world. I realised the career I was training for wasn't going to give me the life I wanted, so I began focusing more time learning about money, investements, business etc.
About 10 years ago I read a book called "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". In summary, it describes a different way of thinking about money and wealth and the mindset of a successful person versus one who struggles with money.
Rich Dad Poor Dad is a great gift for those who are beginning their careers. It influenced my thinking and motivated me in many important ways.
