I would say the most useful thing is the dreamline idea, it a good approach to goal definition, a lot better than any sort of bucket list and such. I do it somewhat differently than he outlines in the book, but I still do it every month, and it has helped me accomplish a lot more.

After reading the book, I had the idea to create multiple streams of income in order to achieve the goal of retiring early. Others have mentioned that it's not easy to find a lifestyle business that earns you enough income to live off of, and I've also had that problem. However, I've had partial success. I don't think I'd have ever pursued this path without reading 4HWW.

but he has some invaluable, very practical advice on automation of certain areas of a business, passive income streams, etc. Personally, I found it very helpful in moving from "full time job, but want to start my own business" stage to geting there and doing it full time.

Interestingly, the biggest eye-opener of reading the 4HWW is the part when Ferriss defines the word muse. I used to only think that it was a dichotomy of 1) boring 9-5 selling out your soul for the rest of your life, or 2) VC-backed startup scaling like mad and ending in a 7+ figure acquisition, but never considered the option in between: lifestyle businesses that are "automated", so you can actually do other things with your life.

I still recommend it to all of my friends who have not read it as the bigger picture message is one that is still very relevant today.

The best idea from the book is his "dreamline" idea, and I have been doing it since around 2009. It really helps you focus your effort, and get rid of tasks that don't accomplish your goals.
