I believe it truly is a record of God's dealings with men, and have changed my life to live according to what it teaches.
It also is fairly scientific in its premise-- if you do an experiment by reading some of it and asking God if it is true, you can receive an answer from God if you ask Him sincerely and are willing to act upon the answer you receive.
The BoM reinforces the Bible's teachings powerfully, and as I age and read again, sometimes in other languages, and some scholarly things about it, they both just keep getting better and better. Including in their effect on me.
I've read quite a few more books more often but these are the books that I have reread multiple times because they have changed who I am and helped me recognize that each time I fall I can rise again a better man.
If you want a fresh perspective on Christianity and religion generally, read the Book of Mormon. Even if you’re not religious at all, it has lots of moving stories that have helped me understand how to get along better with people I disagree with or with difficult life circumstances.
After decades of reading it repeatedly, it does not run out of ways to comfort, strengthen, give direction & confidence & pea ce, and help me want to be a better person.
It’s had a incredible effect on my life by helping me understand the purpose of my life and provides the right perspective when making big decisions in my life.
It gives me hope despite some things looking increasingly dark in the world.
