you will invariably see something like "Kafka meets [some affected crime novelist] to describe this book, and that ain't wrong.
The City & the City is his style, but constrained to the structure of a noir mystery novel.
If I were to recommend it, it would be because the author's English vocabulary is so much fuller than my own.
A delightful, unique experience! Fresh and original, “fantasy science fiction”.
A delightful read and it changed the way I look at the world a little bit.
