The book's genius is in describing capitalism through the eyes of a protagonist for whom it is unfamiliar and literally alien.
A child free from the guilt of ownership and the burden of economic competition will grow up with the will to do what needs doing and the capacity for joy in doing it.
I recently read The Dispossessed and The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin, and will continue reading her stuff over the summer for sure.
Read it; it's really good, and works well as a pair with _The Left Hand of Darkness_.
