Adopting a systems thinking mindset. When analysing problems looking for the bottleneck, then figuring out how to elevate that constraint.
Nevertheless, the points covered by the textbooks deeply changed my view of my purpose at my company and beyond.
The Goal (and its descendants). Changes the way you look at organizations
I thought The Goal was more generally applicable. Its core idea ("theory of constraints") is described in terms of a factory floor where different workstations have different throughputs/latencies/reliability; you could apply that to a diagram of a distributed system [0], CPU [1] or server [2].
The Goal, Eli Goldratt - changed the way I thought about getting things done. The Theory of Constraints is important to anyone who makes things.
It is a more concrete example of Systems Thinking that is applied to various environments, manufacturing in "The Goal", marketing and strategy in "It's Not Luck", projects in "Critical Chain", retail in "Isn't it Obvious", and personal improvement in "The Choice".
It's a great business book in the form of an ok novel, and everyone who cares about management or has consistent stress at work should read it.
There are no books that would teach us concepts such as Theory of constraints and economic incentives in the fun and simple way like these books.
