Revisiting this since the TV series came out and I really felt like getting traumatized all over again.
This novel wastes no sentences with fluff and it is sometimes too fantastic to imagine that society would come to this.
I mentioned in another thread my love of dystopias, and one of the best ever is The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.
It's in the style of a later academic lamenting how the narrator didn't say anything about the political power structures of Gilead when, of course, the whole narration had been about the personal power structures.
