As someone who loves science, after reading this book, I have a more realistic view on the world than I had before, and than most of my rational friends right now.
The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching by Thich Nhat Hanh completely changed how I look at life, death, etc. Basically how I perceive the world and myself and others.
I now look at the world through different eyes. That is to say, I'm still atheist, love science, and that book never conflicts with reality.
Completely changed my world view. As someone who loves science, this book shows that Buddhism is not about belief but a way to look at the world.
It's not overly spiritual, but there's a relaxing, reassuring, thoughtful, and un-judging sense of peace that permeates this books. Brought me out of a really dark place when I was looking for reasons to keep existing.
I've been rereading The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching since then.
