But it's a languorous kind of beauty that was utterly lost on me until I started reading him slowly. Reading a few pages at a time I've been struck, repeatedly, by his artistry. I would read him for pleasure, even without any insights.
our morality appears as a plaster hiding a sore it can never cure, and all our well-doing as the hollowest substitute for that well-being that our lives ought to be grounded in, but, alas! are not.
I read parts of it and found it slow and boring but then haven't stopped thinking about it since.
